Our Principal

Hello Monroe Clark Families, Staff, and Students!

It’s a privilege and honor to be the Principal of this great school.  Clark Middle School’s dedication, commitment, and strive for excellence is what makes it so special.  Our students are brilliant! The academic achievements of our student body can be attributed to our inspiring, committed, and caring teachers, staff, parents, and community.  Our support system is truly exceptional!

I have been part of San Diego Unified since August 1997. I have taught mathematics at Lewis Middle School and Patrick Henry High School. My leadership journey started when I became a math resource teacher in the district’s internship program where I supported adults working towards their teaching credential. I have had the honor of being a vice principal at Zamorano Elementary and Horace Mann Middle School. In my journey, I have learned that all students can succeed when given the proper support.

Middle school is a unique and vital time for our students.  At Clark, we want to make sure that our students are inspired to learn, that they feel safe and are comfortable to take academic risks, and share their ideas amongst a diverse student population. We, as educators, aim to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and encourage students in the pursuit of their interests and passions.  The academic rigor of our classes is designed to establish and maintain and grow our students’ enthusiasm for learning and character development as they continue their educational journey.

The remarkable support system within our community and our great school are some of the reasons I am incredibly proud to be part of the Clark Team!  As the Principal of this great learning community, I look forward to working alongside all of you to make sure our students are becoming their very best selves.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I can be reached at (619) 344-4200 ext. 3001. You can also email me at [email protected].

The Monroe Clark family thanks you for all your support!

With appreciation,

Kevin Martin
